Is it possible to walk this world so closely with Christ and be so full up with the Holy Spirit, that when God calls us to come home to heaven and we step over the threshold of eternity, we will not notice the difference..?
“Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord” (Psalm 89:15).
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin” 1 John 1:7
“Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” Genesis 5:24
It must be possible, for it is recorded that Enoch did this. There doesn’t seem to be anything fancy about it, he just walked every day in obedience with his God and Saviour. Does that mean there were others? There is no actual record, but maybe there were.
Maybe it happens to people who just quietly live for God. People who would not much be missed.
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 NIV
It’s not fancy.. it is the life of the godly person. It is a life that cannot be lived apart from the Spirit of God. This is for every Christian and it the hallmark of a true believer in Christ. If we should know His company we must turn away from the world and it’s allurements and deliberately set our faces to follow in the way Jesus showed us.
If we should go to the Eternal home with no trouble, that is a blessing. If we should enter in through trials and heartache, we shall still enter in. When every redeemed person steps over that threshold, they are safe forever. Forever with the Lord… this is our goal and ever great reward.
In the meantime, may we seek that closeness and follow in each footstep of the Master, for that is true peace, even in a desperate world.
