Submit

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James 4

Some saw it coming. Most didn’t. We comfort ourselves that God is in control and the West is safe and protected against all enemies. We are now seeing that the enemy is within. A godless and autocratic leader has been chosen by the people to lead the most powerful and influential country on earth. He has raised himself above God and all that is decent and holy, and we have gone along with it. Our sensibilities have been clouded over and we have become unable to judge wisely.

The enemy is within our societies, but only because he is within our minds and hearts as well. We do not submit to God, we do not grieve over our sin or purify ourselves from it. We are still relaxing and going out to lunch. We are still concentrating on this world’s goods and building our own edifices to supply our needs. We have turned to other comforts for ourselves, and not Christ. This piece of writing from God is very blunt. He does not mince words or fog the issue so that we can somehow escape the application to ourselves.

No one knows what will now happen in Western civilisation, and suddenly, it has become very dark. The clouds are gathering and as God’s people we should be waiting- waiting to see what He will do…. maybe this is the passageway this world will go through and into the full light of the kingdom of God. Maybe the complete deliverance from sin and its effects will soon be a reality…

What can I do?
Seek the Lord, repent, and work as His servant in every opportunity He sends us. Keep going no matter what.
God will lift you and strengthen you, even as you submit to Him. He is not willing that any should perish…
God is working out His purposes for those who love Him, and is still willing to forgive and change anyone who comes humbly to Him. This is our only hope, but what a wonderful hope that is certain and will bring us gloriously though all the griefs into our eternal inheritance. He will lift you up…..
