The little book

“I saw a mighty angel coming down out of the sky, clothed with a cloud. A rainbow was on his head. His face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. He had in his hand a little open book. He set his right foot on the sea, and his left on the land. He cried with a loud voice, as a lion roars. When he cried, the seven thunders uttered their voices.”

Revelation 10:1-3

The angel coming. down for heaven is mighty and is coming on the clouds, with a rainbow circling His head. His face is like the sun and his feet pillar of fire. Christ comes in the clouds and the throne of God is referred to as the Rainbow circled throne. In Revelation chapter 1 the vision of Christ shows Him as having a head as white as wool and feet like brass from a furnace. This angel is CHRIST, the angel of the LORD.

“His head and his hair were white as white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire. His feet were like burnished brass, as if it had been refined in a furnace. His voice was like the voice of many waters. He had seven stars in his right hand. Out of his mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest.”

Revelation 1:14-16

In the hands of the angel is a little book, the little book of the gospel which is handed to John for him to eat. The gospel was given to the Apostles as faithful witnesses to the living Christ and to spread the good news through the whole world, which they did. Our faith is built of the law and the prophets and the faith is spread through the propagation of the gospel to the minds and hearts of humankind. The gospel is specifically the good news about the fact that Christ has died and rose again from the dead, and there is forgiveness for the sinner who humbles themselves and comes to Him in faith.

The gospel call remains open to all, for the little book is open.

The Angle of the Lord descends at His incarnation to bring the message of hope to the nations of the world. We see His glory, the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.

The angel opens His mouth and the voice is like a lion that roars, the lion of the tribe of Judah. The gospel call is to all no matter what their circumstance are, one foot of the angel is on the sea and one foot on the land. The gospel is a free offer of mercy and grace to all who will believe. Christ is the Lord of all the globe and the world is His possession, as the sovereign Lord. When the angel speaks there are seven thunders, which speak of the majesty, authority and power of God, uttering from wrath and punishment against sin. John is told not to write about the thunders, for the day of mercy is still open for repentant sinners. The voice of the gospel yet thunders as it is preached to the peolpe on earth. Repent and believe, for the kingdom of God is at hand.

The days are nearly over for this time. The angel swears an oath by the heavens and earth and He who made them that there will be no longer any delay. We are at the end of the end times and we must fly to the Lord for refuge from the coming judgment. There is no other place of retreat or shelter, but in the loving arms of the almighty God who has given the message of the gospel to save us.

“Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:51-57

In the days of this angel as He is about to sound and come again in the clouds of glory, the mystery will be finished and every eye will see Him who they pierced. It will be clear to everyone that the law and the prophets are true and the Scripture is true. All that it prophesies will happen, has now happened and they will mourn because of Christ the judge. The kingdom will come in all its glory with the saints of God, those who have believed, in the train of Christ. The door of mercy will be shut to all who have rejected Christ and other books will be opened.

“On that day the LORD will become King over all the earth—the LORD alone, and His name alone.”

Zechariah 14:9
