“The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from the sky, burning like a torch, and it fell on one third of the rivers, and on the springs of the waters. The name of the star is called “Wormwood.” One third of the waters became wormwood. Many people died from the waters, because they were made bitter.”

Revelation 8:10-11

The angels sound their trumpets and bring trouble on the earth. The first trumpet brings fire and hail and blood and a third of the earth, trees and grass are burned up. The second brings a fiery mountain that destroys a third of the sea and kills a third of the animals in the sea and sinks a third of the ships. The third sounding of the trumpet brings the falling of the star “ Wormwood” that turns a third of the water bitter, and many people, died because of this catastrophe. 

These signs are the signposts of the markers in history that has brought trouble to humanity and the church of Jesus Christ. They bring death and destruction because of wars and various oppressions that lead many into death and hell. The earth itself is ravaged by these wars and the natural world groans, waiting for the redemption of the Sons of God. 

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us. For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.”

Romans 8:18-22

The visible church of Christ is full of errors and falsehood, which gets worse and worse until, the end, when there is very little soundness and the true hearted people of God are oppressed by the overbearing rulers of the time. The persecution and oppression come from the leaders and from the wickedness that abounds on earth at the end of the era of time and space. The Christians also groan, waiting for their freedom from the bonds of this world and sin.

Wormwood falls from the sky, so it is not to do with global warming. It is a spiritual sign of the times and shows the complete fall from grace of so much of the so- called church of Christ. The church remains pure only in the hearts and minds of those who truly believe. False religion and error always leave a bitter taste and clause so much problems in the church of Christ. Controversies emerge and all vain arguments about issues that do not matter, causing the continual falling away of so many. People are oppressed by the authorities and there is much unrest and upheaval in the church. The gospel is not preached and people die in their sins.

The falling always is huge and the error is rampant. Wormwood destroys many and sets the scene for the next set of trumpets.
