Isaiah 33:5-6,15-16
“The Lord is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with his justice and righteousness.
He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure….
“Those who walk righteously and speak what is right, who reject gain from extortion and keep their hands from accepting bribes, who stop their ears against plots of murder and shut their eyes against contemplating evil— they are the ones who will dwell on the heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress. Their bread will be supplied, and water will not fail them.”
The message is very clear. It does not need much explaining. God Himself is the store of salvation for our times, and all times. God always reigns supreme and as we fear Him and honour Him, He becomes the key to the treasure. Obviously this is not earthly treasure of money and riches, but a treasure that will last forever. Spiritual or eternal life, righteousness of character, and a perfection that comes only from God.
Who will get this? Those who are righteous, and reject all evil in all its forms, and they will be kept by God and will live on the heights of blessing from God. Their daily bread will be supplied, and their daily spiritual food will also be given to them. Their hearts are towards the Lord, and He will supply all needs, according to His purposes. He requires good use of the gifts He gives and He will require holiness of heart and goodness of motivation.
Many recognise this, but do not want to make the necessary sacrifices to gain that spiritual walk, and personal closeness with God. If we walk with God, we are walking and listening closely to Him and practice instant repentance in our daily lives. We will not let anything come between ourselves and our Saviour Jesus. Our relationship with Him will be our primary concern, and we will let go of every sin, so that our holy walk will remain and thrive. This is what God looks for in the lives of all His people.
We are not holy without the Lord and we will not become holy without the filling of our lives with the Holy Spirit. He will not inhabit our lives, or teach or give power to someone who is not seeking holiness. As we seek this rare jewel, God will lift us up to His service and we will exalt the Lord, in every way. His praise will become glorious, and our days will be filled with love and joy. This is the treasure of the people of God, forever.
